State of Play NSW ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who provide us with information. Surveys: Responses from game developers and industry stakeholders. The first form of data collection is State of Play NSW: Game Developers Survey.
Videos: Recorded content from events, testimonials, and industry discussions.
Anecdotal Evidence: Informal reports and industry insights shared with us.
Self-Reported Data: Voluntary submissions of personal or professional information related to the games industry.

Studio and game information
Surveys may collect data in relation to grants, studio spending, unpaid labour, and a range of financial factors that impact game developers in NSW. It is critical to collect this information to understand the financial pressures on developers to inform State of Play NSW on best actions for lobbying and advocating. All information in regards to this will always be kept confidential and shared only in anonymised and aggregated forms.
2. How We Use the Information
The information we collect is used to:
Advocate for increased government funding and support for the games industry.
Inform policy recommendations and industry reports.
Promote the impact of State of Play NSW initiatives.
Improve our goals and engagement with the industry.
Promote developers of NSW, upcoming games, and previous releases.
Share stories from NSW game developers and studios.
Create a broad data set of NSW game developers and studios over multiple years to determine the impact of State of Play NSW advocacy.
All survey data used for lobbying, advocacy, and reports will be anonymised and aggregated to ensure individual privacy is maintained. Additional data collected from developers and industry personnel, including but not limited to video and written testimonials, may be anonymised, where applicable, and shared directly with permission from the developers.
Data collected from surveys, testimonials, and methods listed above will be anonymised and aggregated before being shared on the State of Play NSW website https://www.stateofplaynsw.com.au/ where applicable and relevant. Additionally, anonymised and aggregated data points will be shared on State of Play NSW social media, including but not limited to Bluesky and X.
3. Data Privacy and Security
We are committed to safeguarding personal information by implementing measures to:
Ensure all personally identifiable information is kept confidential.
Store data securely and restrict access to authorised personnel only.
Anonymise data where applicable before sharing it with third parties or government agencies.
State of Play NSW authorised personnel may directly contact survey respondents for additional testimonials and data collection.
Our authorised board members are required, as a condition of their involvement, to treat personal information held by State of Play NSW as confidential and to maintain the confidentiality of that information. They are also required to use a login and password when accessing our systems and to follow the State of Play NSW Board Member Code of Conduct in regard to how to manage personal information.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. We may share anonymised and aggregated data with:
Government agencies for policy advocacy.
Industry partners to support the growth of the games sector.
Academic and research institutions conducting relevant studies.
State of Play NSW understands that information shared with us by developers and industry personnel is private unless stated otherwise.
5. Minors and Age Restrictions
State of Play NSW’s services and initiatives are intended for professionals and industry stakeholders. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 16 years of age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently gathered such information, we will take immediate steps to delete it. If you are under 16, please ensure you have permission from a parent or guardian before engaging with our services. Certain events or initiatives may have specific age restrictions, so we advise checking individual event details for participation requirements.

Individuals providing information to State of Play NSW have the right to:
